Cost Reduction

The administrator of the company can set and manage the policies of all the users from the Data Center in an integrated manner. Centralized client management functions of Active Directory is supplemented, and many of the support work that had to be carried out by actually going to the site where each PC was set up, can now be carried out at the Data Center.
Policies that can be set include: prohibit use of external memory devices such as USB flash drives; read-only; hide Windows service menus (prohibit usage); prohibit use of printer; and prohibit use of application installed in PC.
As these policies are not applied physically on the PC but to the user, they are triggered dynamically when the user logs on to the PC. It is also possible to authorize the use of internal hard disk drive for special cases.
High transparency can be maintained at the Data Center in regard to the details of various documents stored by the user. It is possible to keep track of the data stored by all the users on the file server and create back-ups of all data to prepare for troubles.
As centralized data management and user management is possible at the Data Center, administrative costs and time can be reduced significantly.
Logs of all usages are also centralized in the administrator’s consol of the Data Center, therefore, all activities including ‘who’, ‘when’ and ‘what’ are clearly recorded. As each event including PCs being taken out and returned is also logged in a timely manner, administration time can be reduced significantly as well.

According to the material announced by HP, 23% of the initial cost for introducing Client PCs is for TCO, and the remaining 77% is for life-cycle costs including introduction, administration and maintenance of PCs. This area occupying 77% of the initial cost is where there is a potential for significant cost reduction.
Our survey of a certain user company with 2,000 PCs also revealed the followings:
- Introduction and disposal of PCs ----- 500 PCs are replaced every year
- Migration to new Windows version ----- almost every three years (annual migration of 666 PCs)
- Change of PC user (relocation, organizational restructuring) ----- 300 employees transferred annually)
- Joining and retiring of employees ----- 150 employees are joining and 120 employees are retiring the company each year)
- PC troubles ----- approximately 900 incidents are detected every year
At every occasion, there is a need to delete and reload PC data and reconfigure user environment, which takes up much time and effort of the administrator.
Also, concerns over the high costs of verifying applications when introducing New OS versions are often focused, but the continuous costs required for managing data, as mentioned above, is in fact much higher and increases in proportion to the number of PCs.
Although reliable resources regarding administration costs for maintaining PCs cannot be found, it is quite certain that an enormous amount of cost is required. Over 50% cost reduction in PC administration cost can be assumed by introducing Eugrid Secure Client.
Furthermore, as this is a completely nonproductive cost, it should be minimized as much as possible and use the saved costs for more important investments.

While an employee work several years to several dozen years in a company, up to several dozen PCs are used along with his or her change in position, promotion or relocation within the company.
As the situation stands now, there is an indivisible bond between the user and the PC being used. Consequently, every time a change is made, there is a need for the administrator to handle the matter by actually going to the site where the PC is set, which is the cause of an enormous amount of labor and cost.
By removing data from the PCs, it has become possible to reduce the necessities of the administrator having to rush to the site of user PCs and worrying about preventing data leakage.
Tasks of saving, deleting and transferring data at every change and relocation of user lifecycle, and at introduction and disposal of PC lifecycle will be unnecessary. It is also possible to have one PC shared by multiple users or introduce a free-address system.
Reducing the administration cost while enhancing the convenience of PCs? emergence of unprecedented and innovative technology.

All user data stored in the server of Eugrid Secure Client is automatically compiled into one line (folder) according to each user. Therefore, all the backup and administrative tasks of PC data required when the user retires or is relocated can be concluded at the Data Center.
Meanwhile, as there is no user-related data stored in the PC, it is possible to minimize the need for the administrator to rush to the site where the PC is located.

Users of Eugrid Secure Client can dramatically reduce the administration cost of PC lifecycle as well.
The rate of trouble occurring on PCs increases significantly with the age of service, the most troublesome being the breakdown of the hard disk drive. It can crash suddenly without any time to take out the data stored inside. How does Eugrid Secure Client handle such situation?
Even when such accidents occur suddenly, all the data are stored in the file server at the Data Center. Therefore, there will be no data damage whatsoever.
If there is an unused PC, the user can just log in and use it under the same environment as the PC that broke down. Or if there is a spare PC, connecting it to the network and logging on will be the only user support that is necessary.
There is also no need to backup or reload data of each PC, and needless to say, there is no need to delete data when sending the PC for repair.
As you can see from the above, the support cost required when the PC breaks down can be improved dramatically. If PCs are introduced with the same application, a completely same environment can be recreated by just logging onto any PC.
