In addition to the PCs installed at the offices and bases of companies, PCs are also used outside the company, such as at the customer’s office or at the construction site.
Conventional Thin Client System requires the execution result of the Server to be transmitted to the Client to complete the function of the PC. Therefore, it has a disadvantage of not being able to use the PC inside a car, airplane or at basement where network connection is unavailable.
Eugrid Secure Client supports both online and offline operations for using mobile PCs.

● General Desktop Virtualization SolutionThe desktop virtualization technology of general client software creates a virtualization layer on top of the OS installed in the PC, and then operates another OS or application on that layer.
Therefore, it is necessary to obtain license for the other OS or application that operates on the virtual layer. Also, as extremely large-sized information such as OS image as well as work-related data of the user has to be transferred, it is necessary to save a large volume of information on the PC. Therefore, the level of security becomes quite low, which cannot be considered equivalent to that of Thin Client.
● Eugrid Secure Client’s Virtual Desktop
Unlike the aforementioned general desktop virtualization software, Eugrid Secure Client utilizes the OS (Windows) and application software already installed in the PC, therefore there is no need to purchase any other software license.
With the virtualization technology developed by our company, the virtual desktop is allocated with RAM that serves as a storage area. The footsteps of the user including work-related information processed during the logon time will be deleted completely from the PC when the user logs off.
Also, as a different policy from the one used within the office can be applied to the virtual desktop, strict restrictions can be applied when the PC is used outside the company entailing higher risk.
When the virtual desktop is logged on, all PC functions can be used freely including web-based applications. It is also possible to use one’s PC in the office from the virtual desktop by remotely connecting to one’s desktop utilizing the screen transfer method via SSL or VPN.

When using the Mobile Option of Eugrid Secure Client in locations without network connection, the user logs on to the PC before leaving the office when it is still online, and switches it from online to offline mode. With this operation, necessary data are copied to the removable media such as USB flash drive or SD card.
This media provides user settings and data when the PC is used outside the office. When the user connects the USB flash drive to the Eugrid Secure Client-based PC outside the office and logs on to it, an offline policy will be set on this PC, and the data exported on the USB flash drive can be used in the same usual way as using the file on the desktop or My Documents of the PC in the office. It is not possible to write data on the hard disk drive of the PC, just as when using the PC in the office.
After returning to the office, the user switches from offline to online mode, by which the content of the USB flash drive is synchronized to the File Server of the Data Center. It is then possible to reference the latest data updated outside the company directly from the file on the Desktop or My Documents of the PC.
When Eugrid Secure Client-based notebook PC is used at the office, it is possible to take the notebook PC outside the office together with the USB flash drive while maintaining the Thin-Client environment.

The USB flash drive used for the mobile option of Eugrid Secure Client serves as a server. It is not used for the purpose of exchanging information with other users but for using one’s own information outside the office.
The USB flash drive that can be used offline with the mobile option of Eugrid Secure Client can only be used by users that are authorized in advance by the administrator. Other users are unable to use the flash drive at all (in fact, users using the same domain as the one installed with Eugrid Secure Client can look at the content of the flash drive).
When the USB flash drive is connected to the PC that is not installed with Eugrid Secure Client or to the PC using other domains, a dialog prompting for initialization is displayed automatically, and the only options available are to execute the initialization therefore delete all recorded data or to cancel it without opening it.
This means that the USB flash drive cannot be used with privately owned PCs or unauthorized PCs at hotels.
Also, a copy of the data taken out by the USB flash drive always remains at the Data Center. Therefore, even if the USB flash drive is lost or stolen, every detail of the incident can be tracked down. This function will also serve as a backup of the data inside the USB flash drive to the File Server. It will minimize the risk of losing information due to the loss of USB flash drive, thereby facilitating business continuity and recovery after the incident.
Commonly used low-cost USB flash drive can be used for the mobile option of Eugrid Secure Client.
