Client/server evolution to secure thin client environment There is no Thin-Client product currently on the market that can migrate the environment of existing PCs to a Thin Client server. Eugrid Secure Client automatically migrates the user environment of the PC to a central File Server, then deletes corresponding information from the PC, while also write-protecting the hard disk drive of the PC. From the user's viewpoint, their existing PC looks and feels the same as before even after the migration although, in reality, the PC is functioning as a Thin-Client terminal.

Write-protecting the PCs hard disk drive is possible with our unique virtualization mechanism. Therefore, it is possible to set various options such as authorizing any given files/folders other than the default folders (ex. C:\Documents and Settings\User or C:\Users\User) to be written onto the hard disk drive or automatically transferred to the central File Server. image01

Game-changing secure technology With conventional Thin Client technology, the entire PC function is performed at the Data Centre while the users use special terminals without built-in hard disk drives. The terminals and the server are connected via the network, between which graphic screen data are transferred.

While the users are able to use all the PC functions installed in the Data Centre remotely from their terminals, the execution of programs and storage of information is located at the Data Centre. As no data can be stored in the terminals themselves it is therefore possible to prevent not only unintentional leakage of information but also intentional data leakage.

Thin Client systems; however, require the installation of one server for about every 20 client terminals. Moreover, new Thin-Client terminals are required for each user. The license fee for the software is also quite expensive therefore, in combination this amounts to a substantial initial investment.

Existing PCs cannot be used in the conventional Thin-Client environment and would have to be discarded, which runs contrary to current trends for saving on expenditure and reducing the company's carbon footprint. image02

Strong and secure data controls As conventional Thin Client systems do not have built-in hard disk drives in the client terminals, information cannot be saved to the terminals.

By utilizing the virtualization technology developed by Eugrid Secure Client, user information, which is normally saved on the hard disk drive, is automatically saved in the isolated and secure Data Centre, thus no data is stored on the users' PC.

Data leakage prevention can be achieved by not storing any data on the client PCs, and data leakage of existing PCs can also be prevented with software by restricting the use of external storage media.

With Eugrid's Secure Client solution special terminals are not required, as terminal functions and user operations are managed entirely by the users' existing PC, just like a conventional PC. Also, there is no need to install any new hardware other than the File Server (can be shared with the domain controller) required at the Data Centre

Eugrid's Secure Client technology has achieved revolutionary cost reduction in its initial introduction of up to 90% of the cost of that of a conventional Thin Client solution. image03
